* Recruiting for Notre Dame football's incoming class of 2010 had been slow for some time. Since late June it has really picked up. Just since this past 4th of July weekend, the Irish added two more: Justin Utupo, DE, Lakewood, CA; and Tommy Rees, QB, Lake Forest, IL.

* The Quad, the New York Times's college sports blog, has been continuing to count down all 120 Football Bowl Subdivision teams. More Irish opponents have appeared:

#60: Boston College
#57: Michigan

If you are paying attention, that's already 7 opponents with no sign of the Irish. The Quad still has to get to Nevada, Michigan State, Pitt, Stanford, and, of course, SC.
